Dr. Shilpa Brown is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, where she completed Internal Medicine Residency. After serving as chief medical resident, she joined the faculty. She currently practices medicine in the outpatient arena where she sees patients in the faculty practice and supervises medical students and housestaff in the resident outpatient practice. Her clinical areas of interest are health screening and women's health.
Dr. Brown’s reputation as a competent and comprehensive provider of patient care has offered her the ability to care for many Augusta University doctors and staff as their primary care provider. She finds the most joy in developing honest and respectful relationships with her patients using a patient and family centered approach to care. This respect and trust has led to a leadership role in the School of Medicine as Director of the Essentials of Clinical Medicine- Physical Diagnosis Course as well as the Director of the Ambulatory Medicine Clerkship. She has won multiple awards, the most recent being the “2017 Clinical Science Teaching Award” as well as “Exemplary Medical Student Teacher” and, she was inducted into the Educator’s Academy at Augusta University in 2012 for developing an innovative approach, through a digital game, to educate students on contraception use. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to educate medical students the art of taking a medical history and performing a comprehensive and thorough physical examination. Dr. Brown is a passionate and energetic clinician and educator.
