Dr. Gonzales was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Department at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2009. She graduated from University of Health Sciences in Antigua, West Indies followed by an Internal Medicine residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She then acquired a Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship at Augusta University (formerly The Medical College of Georgia). She also completed a post graduate research fellowship sponsored by the National Institute of Health in the Vascular Biology Center with a focus on severe pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
Dr. Gonzales has nine publications and one book chapter. She also has had numerous presentations. She has been a member of the following professional societies: American College of Chest Physicians, Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Thoracic Society, and the European Respiratory Society. She also was involved with the ACCP Physicians Caucus in Washington, DC, presenting pulmonary issued to Georgia elected officials (Representative Dr. P. Broun, Senator J. Issakson, and Senator S. Chambliss).
Dr. Gonzales was awarded for the William Beaumont Army Medical Center Resident Training Program Humanitarian Award, Department of the Army, commander’s Award for Civilian Service 1999, Department of the Army for Outstanding Service and the Larimer County Health Department Award for Outstanding Service.
