The Basic Life Support Instructor program is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of teaching Basic Life Support to a variety of audiences. The program offers a two-year instructorship through the American Heart Association. Successful completion of this course allows the participant to teach Healthcare BLS, Heartsaver BLS/AED, First Aid, Pediatric First Aid and Family and Friends BLS.
This program consists of one session, at your own pace, where students complete an online Core Instructor course, followed by a one-day classroom session detailing administrative policies, the practice-while-watching system, and other logistics of training.
Lastly, students must be monitored teaching a provider course under the supervision of a faculty member.
Audience: Anyone who wants to become an AHA ECC BLS or Heartsaver instructor can take this course. The ideal candidate will be motivated to

Prerequisites:
■ Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card. Non-healthcare professionals must also have current first aid provider card.
■ Letter of recommendation from affiliate AHA Training Center
■ Completed Core Instructor Course.
■ A signed Instructor Candidate Application by candidate's TC
■ Materials should be received at least 10 days prior to the course date

Certification: Upon completion of Instructor course and Training Center Faculty's monitoring teaching of a provider course to AHA standards, Instructor Candidates will receive a certification card valid for two years.
