1. Describe the features or characteristics of a clinical encounter which suggest that a patient's visit may be primarily anxiety related.

2. State some common errors made by physicians in the evaluation and management of the anxious or nervous patient.

3. State when you would recommend that a patient with anxiety be referred for psychiatric or psychological help.

4. Determine the indications for use and precautions in the use of the following medications in the anxious patient.

 A. Benzodiazepines.
 B. Barbiturates.
 C. Antihistamines.
 D. Beta blockers.
 E. Antidepressants.
 F. Phenothiazine.

5. Identify treatment modalities, other than medications, which should be considered in the care of these patients.

6. Recognize the impact that other family members can have on patients with anxiety.
