Robert Broughton, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine
Dr. Robert Broughton is a dedicated internist and medical educator at the General Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic. His journey in medicine began at the College of William and Mary, followed by a Certificate in Neuroanatomy and medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
Dr. Broughton's career is marked by a commitment to both military and civilian healthcare.
He served in the Army through the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and
completed his Internal Medicine residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. His leadership
skills were recognized as he rose to become Chief of the Internal Medicine Clinic
at Eisenhower, where he pioneered innovative curricula in outpatient care, board preparation,
and medical simulation.
In 2019, Dr. Broughton transitioned to the Army Reserves and joined Wellstar Medical
College of Georgia (MCG) as a Hospitalist. He further enhanced his expertise by completing
an Ultrasound Fellowship and continued his passion for medical education.
Notable achievements include:

Dr. Broughton's research interests focus on medical education, particularly in telemedicine
and POCUS. His work reflects a deep commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care
and the education of future medical professionals.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Broughton values family time with his wife,
two young children, sister, and both sets of grandparents, all residing in Augusta.
