Dr. Christos Hatzigeorgiou joined the Wellstar Medical College of Georgia faculty as Division Chief of General Internal Medicine after serving in the U.S. Army as a physician leader in clinical, academic, and administrative roles. Dr. Hatzigeorgiou completed his internal medicine residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and a fellowship in General Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He completed a Masters degree in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) at Uniformed Services University of the Health Science Center. With prior experience of implementing a Patient Center Medical Home, Dr. Hatzigeorgiou is centered on value-based care principles, a proven care model that improves the health of patients through team-based healthcare delivery focused on cost-effective methods. Dr. Hatzigeorgiou has been involved with health service and outcomes research. Academically, evidence-based medicine, point of care ultrasound, and lifestyle medicine are focal points of his training, teaching, and application for optimization of patient care strategies.
