The Simulation Center at Children's Medical Center, Augusta University is a center with expert simulation and educational capabilities that will benefit the children of CSRA region. It utilizes patient simulation and innovative teaching techniques to deliver high quality, education and training. The Center provides opportunities for healthcare providers throughout the CSRA region to improve multi-disciplinary team performance and to safely practice communication and clinical skills without risking the safety of "real" pediatric patients. Laerdal" SimBaby
Laerdal's SimBaby is the portable advanced infant patient simulator designed for team
training. The ECS provides an anatomically correct mannequin which allows for the
physical demonstration of various clinical signs including crying, stridor, breathing,
and various heart murmurs. The human physiology computer models provide appropriate
responses to treatment interventions, including airway and oxygenation management,
fluid administration, defibrillation and the administration of drugs The infant simulator
includes
Laerdal" Adult Airway Management Trainer
The skills trainer is used for adult airway management training. The Laerdal Airway
Management Trainer's lifelike upper torso and head simulates real-world complications
when practicing a variety of intubation, ventilation, and suction techniques. The
simulator is a realistic representation of human anatomy, tissue, and skin, and also
allows for training in the following airway procedures:
Laerdal Infant Airway Management Trainer
The Laerdal Infant Airway Management Trainer simulates the realistic anatomy of a
three-month-old infant for teaching and practicing basic and advanced airway management
skills. The simulator allows training in the following procedures:
Laerdal Pediatric Intubation Trainer
This is an anatomically accurate reproduction of a pediatric torso designed for teaching
the differences in pediatric and adult anatomy for airway management procedures. The
following procedures can be performed on the trainer:
Laerdal Intraosseous and Intravenous Infusion Simulator
The Center also uses Intraosseous and intravenous Infusion Simulator with simulation
training for IO insertion and peripheral IV placement.
Laerdal arterial stick Simulator
The Center also uses arterial stick Infusion Simulator with simulation training for
Peripheral arterial sticks.
Laerdal Lumbar Puncture Mannequin
This is an anatomically accurate reproduction of a pediatric torso designed for teaching
the spinal tap on neonate and infant.
Laerdal Foley catheter placement Mannequin
This mannequin allows trainees to learn the placement of foley catheter in both male
and female bladder.
Laerdal Cricithroitomy Mannequin
This anatomically accurate mannequin allows trainees to learn emergent Cricithroitomy
for difficult airways.
Needle Decompression Mannequin
This is an anatomically accurate reproduction of an adult torso designed for teaching
the needle decompression for tension pneumothorax.
