Advanced Educational Studies

The Education Specialist in Advanced Education Studies degree allows students to build on advanced knowledge and skills to develop and design curriculum, implement responsive instructional methods and evaluate instructional practices.

Delivered online, this is a degree designed for educators who hold a master’s degree in an education-related field and a Level 5 or higher standard professional teaching certificate. The EdS in Advanced Educational Studies can lead to a certificate upgrade in Georgia to Level 6. Candidates must complete concentration coursework assignments and assessments in their current area of certification.

Augusta University’s College of Education and Human Development is a hub for educational outreach and professional learning opportunities, including the Impacting Student Learning Conference.

The Central Savannah River Oral History Project explores changes in the area’s education system by recording the memories of those were involved in the change.

Admissions Criteria at a Glance

GPA: Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the graduate level calculated on all graduate work attempted.

Degree Requirement: A minimum of a Master’s degree in a teaching or related field from an accredited college or university.

Transcripts: Official transcripts are required from all universities and colleges ever attended. 

Standardized Test Requirements: None are required for this program.

Teaching Certificate: A valid level 5 or higher Induction, Standard Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service field certificate, or Life certificate is required.

All required application materials and documents must be received in order for an application to be considered complete and before an admission decision can be made. Applicants with files that are still awaiting materials after the program deadlines will be deferred to the following semester.

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Form I-20 for F-1 student status or Form DS-2019 for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status cannot be issued by Augusta University for enrollment in this online program per U.S. immigration regulations.
