Georgia CF Center Longitudinal Phenotyping (CFP30-P)

The overall goal of this project is to support research in people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) across the lifespan that is focused on non-pulmonary manifestations of the disease such as abnormalities in glucose stability including CF diabetes, other endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, and nutritional abnormalities. These topics were rated highly by CF communities as top research priority areas. Muscle, fat, and bone body composition; dietary intake by multiple 24 hr. diet recalls; physical activity by wrist-worn accelerometers and questionnaires; measurement of glucose stability through oral glucose tolerance testing and 7-day continuous blood glucose monitoring; measurement of GI health through hepatic Fibroscan and GI-specific patient-reported outcomes, and cardiopulmonary and strength testing.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Inclusion Criteria Diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis Patients aged 6 and older Clinically stable for at least 3 weeks prior to testing (no exacerbations or need for antibiotic treatment within 3 weeks of testing or major change in medical status) Exclusion Criteria Children younger than 6 years old Pregnant or nursing at the time of the investigation Prior or waitlisted for a lung transplant Current or Chronic steroid use for > 3 weeks of testing date
