Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the world. There is increasing interest into the role that skeletal muscle health plays in CVD risk, particularly in metabolic disease states (obesity and diabetes). Whole body vibration (WBV) has emerged as an exercise option that may be more tolerable than traditional types of exercise, such as treadmill walking/running or cycling. Like most exercise, WBV can lead to beneficial health effects. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of whole body vibration training on blood vessel function, muscle health, and gut health.
