The mission of the Education & Training Office of the Georgia Cancer Center is to
enhance the development of current and future generations of cancer biomedical professionals
with the ultimate goal of reducing the burden of cancer in Georgia and across the
globe.
The vision of the Education & Training Office of the Georgia Cancer Center is to:
Provide extracurricular opportunities and additional support to expand the professional
development of graduate and post-graduate trainees and faculty and advocate the use
of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for trainees and junior faculty to strengthen
the workforce in cancer research.
Bridge the gap between clinicians and basic science researchers, with the goal of
developing collaborations leading to increased translational research and investigator-initiated
clinical trials.
Enhance STEM and cancer research education by partnering with primary and secondary
schools and undergraduate institutions throughout the region and state of Georgia
to impact future generations of cancer researchers.
