The Communication major opens the door to some of the world's most exciting careers, from filmmaker to reporter, from radio announcer to photojournalist, from podcaster to public relations specialist. Come learn to create, engage, and promote a cause you believe in. We've compiled a list of a wide variety of careers paths available to communication majors.
Employers consistently hire graduates who show excellent ability in spoken communication, active listening, presentational speaking, persuasion and writing skills. The communication degree specifically equips students with these skills, as well as technical skills such as videography, video editing and visual design, which are key technology requirements in today’s mediated world. The major’s internships and capstone course gives students a hands-on cooperative experience producing real-life video, journalism, and public relations projects they can add to their resume portfolio.

Students are mentored by faculty as they intern with a company in the area and gain experience to succeed in their future career. Their degree finishes with a capstone course to help them develop a professional portfolio and get ready to enter the workforce.
By putting them in a real-world, working situation, students create a portfolio of work that will give them a distinct advantage when they enter the job market after graduation.
