Voice and Music Theater Camp

June 12-16, 2023

Summer Voice & Music Theater Camp is for rising 9th – 12th graders and for rising 7th and 8th graders who were members of the All-State Chorus 2023 or have taken at least one year of private voice lessons. Participating students should have at least one year of experience in singing (e.g. chorus, Musical Theater, private voice lessons, etc.)

Most days will include:

     - drama games 
     - movement for singers
     - basic introduction to music fundamentals
     - a “professional-forward” session where students get to learn about vocal health, audition techniques, resume building, and more 
 
Camp will also include a voice class where students get to explore their scenes, learn about character development, participate in master class, and hear from top professionals in the business.

Students will spend a large portion of their time each day learning and rehearsing scenes from fun and exciting musicals and operas! We will end the week with a party for the participants as well as a performance in the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.

Schedule

Camp starts at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm each day Monday – Friday (registration and drop-off begin at 8:30am). Students can bring their lunch or purchase lunch from the student center. Camp will culminate with a performance at the AU Maxwell Theatre on Friday, June 16th at 6:00pm for friends and family (camp t-shirts will be provided to all participants at no extra cost). A pizza dinner will be provided for the students on Friday.
