What is the distinction between the Augusta University (Augusta University) and the Augusta University Research Institute (AURI)? How do I know which organization should be listed as the applicant when I submit proposals?
Augusta University is a member institution of the University System of Georgia. AURI is a separately incorporated not for profit 501c(3) organization established in 1980 to support the missions of Augusta University. As a general rule, proposals should list AURI as the applicant organization unless the sponsor requires that the applicant organization be an academic institution. In those cases, Augusta University should be listed as the applicant organization. Please note that for either organization, the email contact in proposals should be listed as ogc@augusta.edu; this will assure that communications from sponsors are responded to in a timely manner even if the individual normally responsible in the Division of Sponsored Program Administration is not available. If you are not sure or need additional clarification, please contact your Grant and Contract Officer.
