The new law defines student organization as: “an organization at an institution of higher education (such as a club, society, association, varsity or junior varsity athletic team, club sports team, fraternity, sorority, band, or student government) of which two or more the members are students enrolled at the institution of higher education, whether or not the organization is established or recognized by the institution.”
(Note: If the same person or persons commit more than one hazing act close together in time and place, the incident should be reported as one incident.)
Students who are considering joining a fraternity or sorority should be aware that the following organizations have been suspended by the university for violations of the Student Code of Conduct and are not permitted to recruit new members.
At this time no organizations are currently in a suspension status.
Organizations under suspension are not permitted to hold any organized activities, recruit new members or participate in official university activities as an organization. These organizations must petition Augusta University for re-recognition once their suspensions have expired in order to return as a recognized student organization.
