Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. was nationally founded on September 29, 1990, by thirteen inspiring young women from four different schools in the state of New York to serve as a Latina-based sorority devoted to serving the community while fostering a sense of pride an respect for the Latina heritage. The goal for Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. was to create an organization that helps the local community, unites women, and promotes scholarship. Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. dedicates itself to service, academic excellence, and professional development.
